Terms and conditions

General

This is a legally binding contract between the property owners and the holidaymaker. The property owners are also referred to as "we" and "us". The holidaymaker is the person who signs the booking form or, in the case of online booking, the person who makes the online payment. This person is responsible for ensuring that all members of the holiday party accept and adhere to these terms and conditions. The holidaymaker is also referred to as "you". The property referred to in this contract is Bumblebee Cottage, The Braes, Fintra, Killybegs, Donegal, F94 HY43, Ireland.

Bookings and payment

A 25% non-refundable booking deposit is payable within 1 day of the provisional booking being taken. The booking is taken on a provisional basis until the deposit has been paid in full. The booking then becomes confirmed. Until the booking is confirmed, it can be cancelled at any time without prior notice. The balance of the rental charge is payable 6 weeks (42 days) prior to the start of the holiday. Failure to pay the deposit or balance in full by the due dates will constitute a cancellation of the holiday by the holidaymaker. Bookings made less than 6 weeks (42 days) prior to the arrival date must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Breakage deposit

A breakage deposit of €300 will be requested at the time the final payment is due. This deposit will be returned within 7 days after your stay, provided that no damage has been caused.

Changes

We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. This does not affect bookings already made.

Cancellation by the holidaymaker

Cancellation of the booking by the holidaymaker must be made to the property owners at info@bumblebeecottage.ie. The effective date of cancellation is the date on which we receive the written notification. Cancellations sent by email are only valid if the email is indeed received and acknowledged by us. In the event of a cancellation, the following cancellation policy comes into force: if you cancel more than 6 weeks (42 days) prior to your arrival date or you refrain from making the final payment during the 6 weeks (42 days) before your arrival date, you will lose your booking deposit. If you cancel 6 weeks (42 days) or less prior to your arrival date, you will lose all payments made.

Postponement by the holidaymaker

Bookings cannot be postponed by the holidaymaker. However, in exceptional circumstances and solely at the owner’s discretion, holidays can be moved to a later date. If so, the following terms and conditions apply. Communication of a postponement of a holiday should be made and is acknowledged in the same way as a cancellation (see above). In case of a postponement to a later date of which the rental price is more expensive than the original booking, the holidaymaker will need to pay the difference between the new and the old rental price, including the non-refundable deposit. Postponing of a holiday can only made once. After that, it is regarded as a cancellation. Please note that in case of a postponement, the holidaymaker needs to agree to the current Terms and conditions, which may have been updated in the meantime.

Cancellation by the property owner

The property owner will endeavour to make sure the stated property is available for the dates contracted. In the unlikely event the property becomes not available and the property owner has to cancel the booking, the property owner will endeavour to find the holidaymaker suitable alternative accommodation. If suitable alternative accommodation cannot be found, the holidaymaker shall be entitled to a full refund. The property owner shall only be liable to return the monies received. No compensation or consequential losses shall be paid.

Number and age of guests

The maximum number of people entitled to stay at this property is 2. Children under 12 are not allowed. Only those people named on the booking form are entitled to stay. If it is found that more people than agreed are using, this will be considered a breach of contract and the holidaymaker and their party will be asked to leave immediately without any refund. Subletting or assignation of the let is prohibited.

Smoking

Bumblebee Cottage is strictly a non-smoking property, not only inside but also in proximity of the property due to risks associated with the thatched roof. If it is found that the holiday maker or one of their party does not abide to this rule, this will be considered a breach of contract and the holidaymaker and their party will be asked to leave immediately without any refund.

Fireplace, candles and BBQs

As the property has a thatched roof, we have a strict policy to protect both our guests as well as the property from fire damage. Do not light anything in the fireplace other than coal, seasoned wood, briquettes, turf or firelighters. Do not burn paper, newspapers, cardboard, new wood or any other items. For the same reasons, do not burn candles in or near the property. Likewise, the use of a BBQ on the grounds of Bumblebee Cottage is strictly prohibited. If it is found that the holiday maker or one of their party does not abide to these rules, this will be considered a breach of contract and the holidaymaker and their party will be asked to leave immediately without any refund.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in Bumblebee Cottage. If it is found that the holiday maker or one of their party does not abide to this rule, this will be considered a breach of contract and the holidaymaker and their party will be asked to leave immediately without any refund.

Arrival and departure time

Every effort will be made to have the property available from 15:00 on the day of arrival. The property must be vacated by 10:00 on the day of departure. Late departure will result in an additional charge being made. Information about keys and how to collect them will be provided once full payment has been received.

Liability

The property owner takes no responsibility for the personal possessions of the holidaymaker or the holidaymaker's party. Vehicles and possessions are left entirely at the risk of the holidaymaker. Children must be supervised at all times.

Cleaning

We would like to think the holidaymaker and their party would treat the property as they would their own home and at the end of the holiday the property is left in a clean and tidy condition. On departure, all rubbish, including recycling and glass, needs to be put the designated wheelie bins located to the side of the cottage. Crockery, cutlery and glassware needs to be cleaned and stored away or put in the dishwasher. Fridges and food storage areas need to be emptied. All rooms as well as the garden need to be left in a tidy condition. Used towels need to be left in the bath. Furniture that has been moved needs to be put back in their original position. Ashes in the stove need to be removed and put into the metal bin next to the fireplace. Should the property be left in a disproportionately dirty or untidy condition, we retain the right to withhold the breakage deposit.

Breakages

The holidaymaker should make every effort to keep the property, fixtures and fittings and all contents in the same state of repair and condition as at the start of the holiday. Any accidental dame or breakages should be reported to the property owner (or their representative) prior to departure. The property owner retains the right to make an additional charge for damage and breakages, although it should be noted that minor breakages and reasonable wear and tear (in the opinion of the property owner) will not be charged for.

Miscellaneous

Whilst every care is taken to provide a true and accurate description of the property, over time, alterations are made and some things do change. The holidaymaker accepts that no refunds are available for such discrepancies. The property owner reserves the right to enter the property, at a reasonable time, in the event of an emergency or remedial repair work being required. The property owner is entitled to ask the holidaymaker to leave the property without any refund if, in the property owner's opinion, the behaviour of the holidaymaker and/or their party is unacceptable. The property owner reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone, who in the property owner's opinion is not suitable to or capable of taking charge of the property. The property owner reserves the right to ask the holidaymaker and their party to leave the property, without refund, should the behaviour of the holidaymaker and/or their party be considered by the property owner to be unreasonable.

Left items

We are happy to return items that have been left following departure. However, there will be a minimum charge of €20.00 to cover postage and packaging.

Complaints

Every endeavour is made to ensure your stay with us is memorable for all the right reasons. However, we do recognise that from to time things do go wrong. In these circumstances, it is the responsibility of the holidaymaker to make any such problem known to the property owner (or their representative) immediately it becomes apparent, thereby giving the property owner the opportunity to correct the situation. Unless this procedure is followed, no subsequent claim will be entertained. The property owner will make every endeavour to rectify any identified problems as soon as is reasonably possible.

Insurance

Personal travel insurance cover is not included within the holiday booking fee. We strongly recommend that that guests are adequately insured through a travel insurance and cover for the duration of their stay at Bumblebee Cottage.
